Matt Hong

President, Sports

Matt Hong serves as President of Sports for VERSANT. Prior, Hong was President & Chief Operating Officer of PlayOn! Sports, a leading high school media and technology company, after serving on the board of directors.

Prior to PlayOn!, Hong was the Chief Operating Officer of Turner Sports, now TNT Sports. During his 11 years at Turner, Hong was led or supported several milestones including the original and current NCAA rights agreements, the renewal of Turner’s partnership with the NBA, the acquisition of Bleacher Report and the acquisition of UEFA Champions League rights.

Hong joined Turner Sports after previous executive positions at Thomson and AOL. While at AOL, he architected and oversaw the company’s multi-billion dollar partnership with, and equity stake in, Google, and managed the Search business across the AOL portfolio of properties

Hong received a J.D. with honors from Harvard Law School and a bachelor’s degree in economics from NC State University, where he was the university co-valedictorian.
